Ohio: Pathway to the Presidency In 2016, as America decides who the next president will be, the eyes of the nation and world will be fixed on Ohio. The road to the White House leads right through the Buckeye State because, “as Ohio goes, so goes the nation.” Ohio has the seventh largest number of electoral votes and the longest streak of choosing the winning candidate in the country. In fact, the person who has won Ohio has gone on to become the president in every election since 1964.
